I solo-walked our neighborhood from 7:22 a.m. to 8:19 a.m. Partly cloudy sky. Great early morning skylight. It was slippery in some areas. But the snow had a crunchy, somewhat hard crust. It might have been an annoying walk for Barney.

area forecast discussion
national weather service cleveland oh

.synopsis...
broad high pressure centered over the lower great lakes and ohio
valley will drift to the east coast today. the high will
continue to extend across the carolinas and georgia tonight and
wednesday as low pressure moves across ontario. a cold front
from the ontario low will cross the area thursday night and
friday.

&&

.near term /through tonight/...
update...no big changes planned for the update.

original...high pressure and a dry stable airmass were centered
across across the ohio valley early today. this high will drift
east to the coast during the day allowing for a moderating
southerly flow to develop by tonight. moisture will also be on
the increase with slowly thickening ci today but at this point
still believe partly cloudy/partly sunny will be fine. wednesday
low level moisture out of the glfmx will work northeast from
the tennessee valley into the lower ohio valley. models differ
to the northern extent of this with the nam reaching into the
southern half of the area while the gfs holds most of it south
of the area. guidance pops differ as well with the gfs dry and
the nam showing chance pops south. have held pops to slight
chance north and chance south for the afternoon wednesday except
for likely pops in just a few counties far south. temps in the
30s today and in the 40s wednesday.

&&

.short term /wednesday through thursday night/...
we will see rain move north across the entire area wednesday
night (highest chances across the eastern half of the cwa) as
the left exit region of a 50 knot low level jet moves overhead
and isentropic lift occurs. a surface low over the northern
great lakes will move east and drag a cold front through
northern ohio and northwest pennsylvania thursday night. expect
continued rain chances and warm temperatures (highs thursday
mid-upper 50s, except upper 40s northwest ohio) ahead of the
frontal passage with an eventual change over to snow showers as
the colder/drier air filters in behind the cold front thursday
night. even with the drier air there will likely be a few lake-
effect snow showers across the snowbelt through friday before a
large area of high pressure moves over the area friday night
quickly bringing an end to any lake-effect snow. look for highs
on friday to be in the 30s with temperatures slowly falling
through the day. lows friday night will drop into the teens.

&&

.long term /friday through monday/...
high pressure will remain in control through the weekend with
dry conditions expected. a warm front will lift northeast
through the area late sunday bringing a return to southerly
winds. highs saturday will be near normal with highs on sunday
rising into middle and upper 40s. another cold front looks to
move through sunday night into monday bringing another shot of
rain showers to the region. the active weather pattern will
continue through tuesday as a series of waves of low pressure
move across the area with continued rain chances.

&&

.aviation /12z tuesday through saturday/...
high pressure across the ohio valley this morning will move to
the east coast by evening. conditions will remain vfr today and
into tonight. moisture will increase through the late afternoon
and evening with vfr cigs dropping under 10kft largely after
00z as the high pressure moves east off the coast. overnight
cigs especially east could drop to mvfr towards dawn wednesday.

outlook...non-vfr possible wednesday and again thursday night
into friday.

&&

.marine...
high pressure over the area will bring continued light winds today
into tonight. as the pressure gradient tightens wednesday into
wednesday night southwest winds will increase to 10 to 15 knots.
winds will die back down thursday before a cold front moves across
the lake thursday night turning winds out of the northwest around 15
knots. look for the winds to become light again by friday night as
high pressure moves into the region.

oh...none.
pa...none.
marine...none.
